Mission Statement

The Centre for Rural Legal Studies is a non-profit organisation, based in the Western Cape. We believe in a sustainable rural society where power and resources are equitably distributed.

In partnership with the rural poor and rural support organisations we will:

• Advocate for pro-poor policies and procedures
  
• Build the capacity of rural people to undertake participatory action research, and
  
• Use legal processes to bring about change.

We seek to achieve a sustainable rural livelihood where the poor:

• understand their socio-economic rights ihave access to their rights
  
• articulate their needs and iagitate to bring about social transformation.
